On Tuesday, Salina Central High School announced in a statement that assistant Mark Vaughn would be taking over as head baseball coach pending board approval.

Coach Vaughn has spent the last two years assisting Dee Kolzow, who retired after a 17-year career as head coach in Salina, leading the Mustangs to a third-place finish at state this season.

Prior to his return to Salina, Vaughn was a DII baseball player at Arkansas Tech, where he later joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant.

News also broke on Tuesday that Sacred Heart would be hiring Ryan Krajicek as their new head football coach.

Krajicek enters his fifth year with Sacred Heart where he has taught P.E. and weightlifting, leads the summer strength and conditioning program, and has acted as an assistant coach in the Knight’s football program.

The 2013 Sacred Heart grad takes over for Norm Jennings, who led the Knights to a 2-7 finish in 2023

In 6 games last week—in which the Royals went 5-1—Witt Jr. hit .385 with 2 doubles, 4 home runs and 11 RBI, which matched José Ramírez for the Major League lead. Witts 24 total bases also tied Aaron Judge for the most in the Majors.
