Funseeker’s discuss upcoming Christmas meeting

WEIRTON — The Nov. 1 meeting of Funseeker’s at Undo’s in Weirton, was called to order by President Cathy DiBenetto.

Joann Bugin led the group in the reciting of the pledge and the singing of “God Bless America.”

She provided a short blessing and then announced those with birthdays and anniversaries for Novemeber.

Dinner was served, followed by members playing a game of Switch-Steal and Unwrap with several winners at each table.

During the business meeting, DiBenetto honored veteran members in attendance. The treasurer’s report and secretary’s report were read and approved.

The plans for future meeting were reviewed by the group. It was announced the December meeting will be held at Undo’s and will be the club’s Christmas party. The meeting will feature the annual toy drive for Toys for Tots.

Members of the Young Marines will attend to accept the donations of membership. Members were asked to bring in a new, unwrapped toy for children from birth to 16 years of age.

New this year will be an ugly sweater/beautiful sweater contest. Members are asked to wear a holiday top with members voting for winners in several catagories.

Entertainment will feature the sounds of local group, “Here We Are.”

The door prize budget for December was increased to allow the opportunity for more winners. Michele Fabro will award the December door prizes.

It was noted there will be no meeting in January. The February meeting will be at the Breakfast Club in Steubenville.

The sign up sheet for 2024 door prizes was circulated. Members were asked to sign up for the month of their choice and to purchase and award the door prize for that month. The club will reimburse the volunteer for expenses up to $100, officials stated.

John Balzano announced the Super Bowl board was ready for signups,. All boxes were sold.

Tour director Regina Truax stated the final trip of the year to the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling to see a Motown Christmas show will be held Dec. 2. The bus will stop at Mehlman’s for dinner.

The 50/50 drawing was won by Joyce Dobbs.

Undo’s gift certificates were won by Mary Alice Myers.

The following members won door prizes, Chuck Bugin, Mark Lewis, Roberta Antinone, Chris Sklenar, George Williams, Mike Rowland, Bugin, Rose Chappano, Kathy Cole and Dodee Magnone.

Bugin closed the meeting with a blessing and the meeting adjourned.
