Cumbria Chamber has announced the full speaker line-up for its annual business conference, Conference Cumbria.

Set to take place in Kendal on October 3, Conference Cumbria brings together a range of speakers for an event on the theme of ‘Together Towards Tomorrow’.

The event aims to highlight the ‘collaborative nature’ of the Cumbrian business community.

The headline speaker for the event is broadcaster, presenter, and former professional rugby player, Ugo Monye.

As a rugby player, Mr Monye represented his country 14 times and was selected to tour South Africa with the British & Irish Lions.

After retiring from rugby, he transitioned into television, becoming a key member of BT Sport’s leading rugby team, a captain on BBC One’s A Question of Sport, and presenting Rugby Special.

In 2021, the star also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing.

Attendees at the conference will also hear talks from a range of business leaders from the area and industry experts including Jenny Lee, co-founder of The Torpenhow Farmhouse Dairy; Colin Bell, entrepreneur and business growth expert; and Neil Jurd, author and leadership expert.

There will also be a panel discussion featuring Jayne Moorby OBE, head of marketing at Oxley Developments Co Ltd; Gill Haigh, managing director at Cumbria Tourism; Gemma Dawe, founder of Lake District Relocation; and Angela Jones, director of Thriving Place at Westmorland and Furness Council.

There will also be opportunities for networking and to exhibit products and services in the exhibition hall.

Lunch is provided during the day, included in the ticket price.
