The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs look to defend their title against the San Fransisco 49ers in Las Vegas Sunday. The 49ers are narrow favorites over the Chiefs, as of Sunday afternoon

The match-up pits the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes against a 49ers side that needed not one but two consecutive come-from-behind wins this postseason, against the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. They reach the big game for the first time since the two franchises squared off in Super Bowl 54.

67.8 million American adults are expected to wager an estimated $23.1 billion on the game, according to the American Gaming Association.

Here are three bets to consider for Super Bowl 58.

Who will win?: Super Bowl 58 bold predictions: Six strong claims for Chiefs vs. 49ers

Best bets for Super Bowl 2024: 49ers vs. Chiefs

  • Opening kickoff results in touchback: -300

The kickers for both teams have an over 50% touchback percentage on kickoffs. The Chiefs’ Harrison Butker had 86.9 percent of kickoffs stay in the endzone and the 49ers’ Jake Moody had 60% of his kickoffs called as touchbacks.

  • Chiefs score touchdown on first offensive drive: +250

In two out of the three previous Super Bowl appearances lead by Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs scored a touchdown on their first offensive drive. In Super Bowl 54 Mahomes put up six with a one yard rush and in Super Bowl 57 Travis Kelce caught an 18-yard pass to open the Chiefs’ account in Arizona.

  • Winning margin Chiefs/49ers 1-6: +333

If you agree with oddsmakers that the game will be within a field goal, the margin bet provides better value than the moneyline on both teams.
