Bridge blues to continue for Potter

Chelsea went some way to turning around their fortunes under Graham Potter just before the international break before being held to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge by Everton in their last game.

It has been the Blues’ home form that has held them back, with their previous eight Premier League home games resulting in three wins, two draws and three defeats.

In contrast, Aston Villa are a team on the up under Unai Emery and can climb above Chelsea with a victory, a result that would extend their unbeaten run to five games.

Given the form of the sides, a double chance selection for Aston Villa or a draw looks the best value.

Tip: Double Chance – Draw or Aston Villa @ 6/5 with Paddy Power

Watkins one to watch

Ollie Watkins has been one of the main beneficiaries of Emery’s arrival at Villa Park. The 27-year-old was unlucky not to be in the last England squad after a run of six goals in eight league matches.

That includes goals away at Manchester City and at home to Arsenal, so he has proved he can inflict damage on the best defences.

Chelsea have a good defensive record having conceded just 28 goals in the league this term but young Ellis Simms showed they can be exploited in Everton’s recent draw in south-west London. Watkins looks good value at 11/4 to find the net again.

Trouble on cards for Havertz

For our bet builder, we have focused on both sides’ main attacking threats. Chelsea’s Kai Havertz has been a nuisance to referees as well as opposition defences.

The Germany forward has committed 51 fouls in the Premier League this season – more than any other player – and averages 2.5 fouls per game in his last six appearances.

As mentioned above, Watkins is in the form of his Premier League career and it is no surprise to see his shot numbers up as well. He has averaged 2.5 shots per game in his last six matches, of which two per game have been on target.

If both players continue where they left off before the international break, this near-7/1 bet builder has a good chance of landing.

Tip: Kai Havertz to commit two or more fouls and Ollie Watkins to have two or more shots on target @ 6.93/1 with Paddy Power
